A Draw In Yaoundé Was A Morale Booster – Ezenwa
FRANCIS ACHI / Yaoundé
Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who was in goal in the World Cup double header games with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has attributed the 1-1 draw with Cameroon in Yaounde as a morale booster in the quest of the Super Eagles to earn the qualification ticket to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
In an exclusive chat with PM Express in Yaounde , the safe hands of FC Ifeanyi Ubah said that It is a great feeling to be having 10 pints from 4 games in the group b that was tagged ” the group of death” and nothing can stop the Super Eagles everything working out fine.
” It is a great one coming to Yaounde to get a point. I think it is a great morale booster for the Super Eagles and what we need now is to remain dedicated to the course of qualifying for the World Cup and this will be made possible when we win Zambia in the second to the last game in the group” Ezenwa said.
On the penalty awarded against Nigeria which was converted by Vincent Aboubacar , Ezenwa opined that the centre referee was wrong with the decision to award a penalty to the Indomitable Lions, as he insisted that he had a contact with the ball, but the Cameroonian attacker fell clumsily in the box.
” I don’t think it was a penalty. I went for the ball and my hand touched it , although we collided. If I was guilty of the action , I should have been given a yellow card.” Ezenwa insisted.
Ezenwa was a late replacement for Daniel Akpeyi , who was injured in the build up to the double header tie with Cameroon and the 2007 Flying Eagles goalkeeper did not disappoint the expectations of football loving Nigerians .
