Jealous Lover, 32, Jailed 7 Years For Bathing Estranged Lover & Rival With Acid

A 32-year old carpenter, Onyekachi Agu, who allegedly poured acid on his estranged lover and his rival, has been convicted and sentenced to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of the Presiding Judge, Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, who found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
Justice Ogala handed down the jail term after finding Agu guilty on a count of causing grievous bodily harm to two persons, Aishat Adefarati and Mansur Ahmed in 2020 in a hotel.
During the trial, the State prosecutor, Uju Uwangaze, told the Court that Agu committed the offence on 3rd July, 2020, at Gangare Hotel, Mile 12, in Lagos.
The prosecutor stated that Agu traced the victims to the hotel, poured acid on them and caused them grievous injuries.
He was arrested and charged before the Court over the offence,  which contravened Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The convict pleaded not guilty and the trial commenced which last for three years with witnesses testifying before the Court over the dastardly act.
In the judgment, Justice Ogala found the Agu guilty on the grounds of his confessional statement and sentenced him accordingly.
“The defendant is hereby sentenced to imprisonment of seven years with hard labour and the sentence is to run concurrently,” the Judge ruled.
