Man, 40, Lands In Trouble For Biting His Wife’s Lips During Public Brawl

A 40-year old man, Ayodeji Abayomi, has landed in trouble Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly biting his wife, Lilian, on her lips during a public fight and injuring her seriously in the process. 
 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 24th April, 2023, at about 7am, at Abebi area, Ibadan.
According to the Police, the couple had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which resulted into a public fight. It was in the process that the man grabbed her, gave her a bite on the lips and inflicted serious injury on her.
She was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the alleged assault was also reported to the Police. The man was then arrested and detained over his alleged conduct.
After thoroughly interrogating him, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before Iyaganku Magistrate Court, Ibadan, for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The prosecutor, Philip Amusan, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence, which contravened the provisions of Section 335 of the criminal laws of Oyo State 2000.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Prosecutor then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, O. A. Akande, admitted the defendant on bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter till 5th June, 2023, for hearing while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
