A 42-year old woman, Fatima Abdulrahman, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly killing her 28-year old younger sister, Adizat Abdulrahman, by stabbing her with a knife.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alejo Street, Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Fatima, in the afternoon on 9th April, 2023, did engage the victim in an argument over an undisclosed matter which led to a squabble between the duo.
It was in the process that Fatima brought out a knife, stabbed her severally and she was said to have bled profusely and before she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, she died in the process.
Her corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy reports and the matter was reported to the Police at Ikorodu Division. She was arrested and transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over the alleged murder.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Court for the alleged murder.
However, the Court did not take her plea when she was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Nurudeen Thomas, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate,  Mr. P. E. Nwaka, ordered her remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 25th May, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
