The Nigeria’s No.2 Busayo Olatunji has proved her worth again defeating Egyptian Mariam Ashraf to book a spot in the semi-finals in the ongoing 2023 Lagos State International Squash Classics. It was a tough-hit first set for Olatunji, but she did not deter from the T-arena in the glass-court, before she came behind to win 3-1 (11-7,9-11,8-11,7-11) in a pulsating encounter. She made Mariam Ashraf (Egypt) to do the running both left and right, avoid unnecessary obstructions and her powerful strikes are too hot for the opponent to return. Her first game in the round of 16 was against Mistura Durosinlorun, winning 3-1(11-5,11-3,12-10,11-10). “I’m going into the semi-finals, the way I go into this one. I’ll put in my best, and I hope for the best. I put it in the hands of God”, said Busayo. The title chasing continues today as Olatunji Busayo and Torrie Malik of England will put up a good fight in the women’s singles semi-finals. Perry Malik (England) defeated Kehinde Samuel 3-1(11-9,11-6,4-11,11-3). The $18,000 Lagos State International Squash Classics, which began on Monday 9 May, will come to an end Saturday 13 May,2023.
