2 Teenage Robbers Cut Off Okada Rider’s Head With Cutlass During Operation

Police operatives from State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba, Lagos, have arrested two teenage armed robbers for allegedly cutting off a motorcycle rider’s head with cutlass during operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Odofin Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
The suspects, Isaac Dick, 19 and Musa Hamsat, 16, murdered the victim, Zaharadeen Ismail, and took his head with his Bajaj motorcycle and were said to have attempted to escape before they were caught.
According to Police, the suspects pretended to be passengers and lured the motorcycle rider to drop them at an undisclosed place. And while he was riding, they forced him to stop, brought out cutlass they had with them and cut off his head.
However, they were unlucky as the Police in the area later caught up with them, arrested and then transferred them to SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over the alleged murder.
After thoroughly interrogating them, the Police found them culpable for homicide by killing the victim willfully and robbing his motorcycle.
They were subsequently charged before the Yaba Magistrate Court for conspiracy,  murder and armed robbery.
However,  the Court did not take their plea when they were arraigned after the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P. E. Nwaka, ordered their remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
