Blacksmith In Police Net For Fabricating Assorted Guns & Selling To Armed Robbers

Police intelligence operatives have arrested a blacksmith, Alassan Sabo, who allegedly specialized in fabricating assorted guns and selling the firearms to hoodlums including armed robbers for operations in Jigawa State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect was arrested at a blacksmith workshop at Garin Gabas Market, in Malam Madori LGA of the State, where some of the fabricated arms were recovered as exhibits.
This was disclosed by the Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged criminal conduct.
He explained that his arrest followed move by the operatives attached to the Department of State Services (DSS), Jigawa State Command, while acting on a tip-off, as they raided the blacksmith workshop, arrested the suspect, recovered the arms and handed over to the Police for further investigation.
He said that the suspect is strongly believed to have been supplying firearms to hoodlums to carry out their nefarious activities.
DSP Adam explained that three locally fabricated pistols, six finished and semi-finished dane guns, one park of twenty-four arrows, and two ATM cards were recovered.
The suspects confessed that the workshop was established about two months ago, and his younger brother, Haladu, now at large, is responsible for fabricating the local weapons, while he is responsible for their distributions.
He however, mentioned seven people to have purchased the locally made pistols.
“Investigation into the case is in top gear to apprehend all persons mentioned for interrogation and possible prosecution” Adam stated.
