Man, 31, Docked For Stabbing Lady With Broken Bottle During Squabble

A 31-year old man, Peter Ebunola, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stabbing a lady, Rashidat Olaitan, with a broken bottle and inflicting serious injury on her during a squabble.
 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 19th June, 2023, at the Isashi waterside area of Ojo in Lagos, where they reside.

The Police did not state what actually caused the fight between the duo but alleged that the suspect assaulted the lady with a broken bottle over a quarrel in the neighbourhood.
He has been charged before the Ojo Magistrate for the alleged offence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Esther Adesulu, told the Court that the defendant committed the alleged offence by assaulting the lady, Rashida, with a broken bottle during a misunderstanding in the neighbourhood.
She was said to have bled profusely and  was hospitalized following the attack on her.
The Police alleged that the offence was contrary to the provisions of the Sections 54 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However,  the defendant pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, D. S. Odukoya, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and payment of tax with the addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 31st July, 2023, for trial while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
