Man, 26, To Die By Hanging For Robbing Woman Of Toyota Car At Gun Point

“You will be hanged by the neck until you are dead. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.” 
This was the judgment of the High Court sitting in Abakaliki Judicial Division, Ebonyi State, which sentenced a 26-year-old man, Offor Okike, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Presiding Judge, Justice Chinyere Ken-Eze, convicted Okike of the charge having found him guilty of armed robbery and sentenced him accordingly.
The convict, Okike, was convicted for robbing a resident of the State, Lydia Nwuba, of her Toyota Corolla car on 2nd April, 2019, at Elias Odili Street, off Adazienu junction, in Abakaliki.
He was later arrested and charged before the Court for armed robbery.
He went into trial and was finally found guilty as charged.
The Presiding judge, Justice Ken-Eze, stated that the prosecution team had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt that Okike robbed the woman of her Toyota Corolla car valued One Million Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,800,000.00), a Nokia handset valued N18,000 and cash of N2,000 at gunpoint.
The convict, Okike was convicted for armed robbery contrary to Section 1(2)(a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special provisions) Act cap R11, Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The convict was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Abakaliki Town, Ebonyi State, pending the time he will be hanged to death in line with the Judgement of the Court.
