How Notorious Armed Robbery Kingpin Was Arrested With 4 Guns During Operation

A 32-year-old suspected notorious armed robber, Obani Desmond, has been arrested in Ogun State while arms and ammunition were recovered during the operation. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Desmond, who resides at No. 25, Agunbiade Street, Orija, Abule Iroko, was arrested while trying to burgle a house at No. 2, Ayo Ogunbanwo Street, Abule-Iroko in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area.
The suspect, who has been on the wanted list of the security agencies in the State, was arrested through the combined efforts of the Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, after several attempts before he was finally arrested.
This was disclosed by the State Commander of the Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, through the the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Moruf Yusuf.
In the statement, he said that at about 1000hrs on Wednesday, 12th July, 2023, the Officers of the Corps on routine patrol while acting on information gathered, caugh Desmond, who had escaped arrest on several occasions but nemesis caught up with him on the day as he tried to hide from being caught at the scene of robbery.
He stated that the So-Safe team led by Akinrele Adetayo showcased seriousness to make sure he is arrested alive, so that a number of heinous acts perpetrated by him will not die with him.
Ganzallo also revealed that when the suspect saw that the scene at which he was caught might be the end of the road, he confessed that he went to steal gold jewelries in that compound and that was the reason for his not carrying arms.
He stated that during interrogation without torture, Desmond promised to show the team where he kept the arms, which he uses to perpetrate the crimes and took the team to his house.
Ganzallo stated that before getting to where he kept arms, his wife, Mrs. Simbi Temitope Desmond, had taken three out of the four arms (1 single and 2 double locally made pistols) and kept them in the nearby room, with one (1)12 rounds pistol found in his room. All arms recovered were four with 5 live ammunition, 9 used and 5 live cartridges.
Ganzallo stated that the suspect confessed to have taken part in a number of deadly attacks both in Ogun and in Lagos States and he pleaded that the Corps would get the remaining useful story of their successful attacks from one Mr. Jeje, whom he said had in his custody the AK-47 their team uses.
Ganzallo stated that the suspect and the recovered exhibits had been transfered to the the Nigeria Police Force, Agbado Divisional Police Headquarters, for further investigation and likely prosecution.
Meanwhile, efforts were being made to arrest other suspects now at large for prosecution.
