A 39-year old man, Kelechi Enogwe, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly molesting two underaged sisters by using his fingers to temper with their private parts.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oshin Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Kelechi, had constantly molested the victims aged between 12 and 14 years by fondling their breasts and inserting his fingers into their private parts.
The suspect finally landed in trouble on 23rd June, 2023, when he lured the victims, molested them and he was caught.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikeja Division. The suspect, Kelechi was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
While being interrogated, he initially denied before the victims were brought before him and they made more revelations. The Police discovered that it was not the first time he was molesting the victims sexually before he was eventually caught.
Having been found culpable, the Police charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged statutory rape under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court for alleged rape if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
