Police Bust 2 Women Who Opened Baby Factory To Steal Babies & Sell To Ritualists

The Police Intelligence team from the Imo State Command has busted members of a syndicate, who opened a baby factory in order to steal babies and sell to clients for ritual purposes. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the two women, Chinyere Eke, 48 and Glory Okon, are in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct in child labour and stealing of children.
The Police operatives arrested the suspects at Umuguma, Owerri West LGA, Imo State following credible intelligence  unraveling alleged stealing of children and selling them to potential buyers for child labour or ritual purposes.
They were arrested and paraded at Police headquarters in Owerri along with other suspected criminals arrested in connection with various crimes in the State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer,  Supol Henry Okoye, while parading the suspects on 12th July, 2023,who said that they were arrested in Umuguma, Owerri West LGA of the state.
He stated that the suspects had been running a baby factory under the guise of a motherless babies home in Umuguma while at the same time stealing babies, which they sell to their clients.
Supol Okoye stated that apart from stealing babies, the suspects also keep teenage pregnant girls, who are delivered of babies and then the babies will be sold to prospective buyers.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of a criminal syndicate and led the curious operatives to the baby factory, where seven stolen children and four pregnant teenage girls were rescued.”
“Some of the children have been reunited with their parents, while other victims are currently in a government-approved home for care and custody,” he said.
He stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for the alleged criminal offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
