In the world of politics, there are passionate supporters who stand firmly behind their chosen leaders, often exhibiting unwavering loyalty even while doing so blindly.

However, there are instances when engaging in discussions or arguments with such individuals becomes an exercise in frustration. This holds particularly true when it comes to the loyalists of Peter Obi, the former vice-presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.

Here are several reasons it is best to avoid arguments with this headless mob.

1. Propagation of Unfounded Conspiracy Theories: It is no secret that most loyalists of Peter Obi have embraced baseless conspiracy theories. These theories range from believing that former President Buhari is deceased and replaced by a Sudanese body double, to claims of impending Islamization of Nigeria. Engaging in debates with individuals who hold such unfounded beliefs can be an exercise in futility.

2. Ignorance of Facts and Realities: Loyalists of Peter Obi often exhibit a disregard for factual information and rely on misinformation. From misconceptions about the Federal Capital Territory’s significance to believing in the curative powers of salt against Ebola, these individuals showcase a lack of awareness and critical thinking. Engaging in discussions with such individuals can be frustrating due to their reluctance to accept verifiable facts.

3. Resistance to Rational Discussion: When confronted with opposing viewpoints or evidence that contradicts their beliefs, loyalists of Peter Obi tend to display a strong resistance to rational discussion. Rather than engaging in thoughtful discourse, they often resort to defensiveness or dismissive attitudes. This makes it challenging to have a productive conversation or bridge ideological gaps.

4. Inflexible Partisanship: Loyalists of Peter Obi often exhibit a high level of partisanship, which can cloud their judgment and hinder objective analysis. Their unwavering loyalty to their preferred leader can lead to biased perspectives and an unwillingness to consider alternative viewpoints. Attempting to sway their opinions through logical arguments can be an uphill battle.

Given these characteristics, it is advisable to exercise caution and avoid fruitless arguments with loyalists of Peter Obi. While healthy debates can contribute to a vibrant democracy, it is crucial to recognize when engaging with individuals who are impervious to reason and evidence becomes counterproductive.

Instead of wasting energy on unproductive arguments, focus on engaging in constructive dialogue with individuals open to diverse perspectives. By directing efforts towards meaningful discussions, we can foster an environment conducive to critical thinking and collective progress.

Always remember that not every conversation is worth pursuing. Recognize when engaging in debates with loyalists of Peter Obi will lead to frustration and unproductive outcomes. Preserve your peace of mind by focusing on meaningful discussions that promote understanding and growth.
