Two members of staff of Justrite Super Store, Kolade Oluwasegun, 36 and a woman, Yinka Gbadebo, 32, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly picking their needs from the store without the consent of the management.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd May, 2023, at the Super Store located at Jakande Estate, Ejigbo area  of Lagos, where the suspects were employed as staff.
The Police alleged that the suspects were caught separately with the items by the security guards and handed them over to the Police at Ejigbo Division for interrogation and prosecution.
The management calculated the missing items and informed the Police that Oluwasegun stole items worth N2.26m while Yiinka Gbadebo stole items worth N3.332m before they were caught.
During interrogation, the suspects denied stealing items worth such amount of money but admitted to have picked their needs before they were caught and handed over to the Police.
The Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, they pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
They were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 29th August, 2023, for mention.
