A 36-year old man, Beckley Chidi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly battering a lady, Linda Binutu, who he lodged with him in a hotel, for denying him sex and he injured her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the popular Trending Place Hotel, located on Alimi Bada Street, Oke Afa area of Ejigbo, Lagos.
Apart from beating the lady, Linda, mercilessly over her alleged refusal when he was ready for the romp, the suspect, Chidi, also allegedly damaged the door and key to the hotel room during the scuffle.
The lady raised alarm, which attracted the hotel management and she was rescued. But before then, he had already inflicted injury on her body through fist blows.
She was taken to an undisclosed hospital and the alleged assault was reported to the Police at Ajao Estate. The suspect, Chidi, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have beaten her after he had spent all his money on feeding and buying her drinks including the hotel accommodation and then she denied him sex.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and willful damage.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector M. Solomon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty before the Court to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. I.O. Williams, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
