My ECOWAS And The Fowl’s Snare

The beat of war drumming in West African region is nothing but a revelation of a misplaced priority, fueled by unhealthy interpretations and designed to please the people we can never please. Most African leaders are dancing robots for the entertainment and solidification of neocolonialism in africa.
The artifice of divide and rule employed by colonial nations to hold sway over African wealth remains actively potent due to some elements in our governments that engender colonial masters’ interests in exchange for Western political support. The Ukraine – Russia war ought to have served as a school of thought to African leaders that war never settles anything right, and that those who encourages one to go to war don’t get hurt as much as the one in the battle field.
The nebulous concept called democracy in Africa is doing more harm than good, as it spreads African wealth in the private pockets of infinitesimal numbers of individuals while the larger chunks of the public suffer the consequences in bitter pains and dropping tears.
Africa, as a result of Western wiles, has majority ignorant population while democracy is said to be the game of the majority. This unhealthy ratio anchors the hope of Africans at the mercies of the myopic views of the majority ignorant population. In most cases, the said choices of the majority are crushed through civil coup, softly and stylishly coated as election rigging. Our survival as a People must not depend on a one way traffic if it lacks the solution to our collective problems. I am strongly of the opinion that who the cap fits, let them wear it.
I could remember how fowls are being domesticated into new homes in most African villages. Firstly, it will be tied to a large stick, which represents the colonial devilish iron slave chain. As the fowl adjust a bit to the new environment, it will be retied to a lighter stick that would enable the fowl struggle within a limited circle, which represents religion and anemic education. And as the fowl endorses the new home as its domicile due to deprivations, threats and reorientation in the same way most African leaders see their oppressors as their helpers, it will be set free but remains under the watch of the new owner, whose intention is to either eat or sell it to those that would finally eat it. ‘Indépendance sur la surveillance’.
ECOWAS proposed war against Niger Republic could, or would be a defence of colonial institutions in Africa, as most military junta in West African nations seem to be liberating their lands and people from the shackles of colonialism and insecurity, which is a necessity for our economic Independence. A dialogue focused on diverse interests of all parties involved on the platform of West African indegenous people’s betterment would suffice.
In this present murderous economy, choked with insecurity, it will not be sapient to waste our resources and military manpower on a needless war just to prove a needless point. Nigerians are enduring excruciating pains from the effect of PMS subsidy removal for future gains; Not to see it wasted on a needless war.
I write and hope to symbolise the view of the majority of the African population that it is time for us to wage peace, not war.
