A 46-year old man, Adewale Joseph, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring a 15-year old girl into his apartment, drugging her and forcefully engaging her in sex romp.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Gbogho Bayeku area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged the suspect to have lured the girl into his sitting room and offered her drink which he mixed with some substance suspected to be hard drugs.
The victim innocently drank it and became unconscious. When she slept, off, he then removed her clothes and engaged her in sex severally. The victim woke up later and discovered that she had been raped.
She reportedly raised alarm, which attracted both their neighbours and her mother. The matter was reported to the Police operatives in the area, who arrested Joseph and transferred him to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to have done so and he was consequently charged before the Yaba Magistrate Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Nwaka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
