Why I Love And Respect Morayo Afolabi-Brown
RACHEL AKEM-HARUMI

For years, I have worked with different caliber of Women, some are nice and some aren’t nice at all but wherever I come across women like Morayo Afolabi-Brown, I can’t hesitate celebrating them.
We invited Morayo as the Guest speaker in the just concluded Future Women Conference sponsored by Simba/TVS. She was sick and hospitalized. She sent us an email that she won’t be able to make it, which of course we understood and wished her speedy recovery even though many people kept calling to confirm if Morayo will truly be there.
On the morning of the conference, her PA called and said Morayo will be coming from the hospital to attend the conference.
Despite her Ill health, despite the heavy rain, despite the ugly traffic in Lagos on the conference day, she ignored the doctors advice and compelled herself to honour the invitation to inspire and motivate African women.
Her type is indeed rare. I think her heart is made of pure gold. She Is the typical example of Women Supporting Women.
Dear Morayo, May I remind you that every effort you made to climb those stairs to the podium was iconic. I will never forget the sacrifice you made to inspire and motivate that assemblage. As you climbed those long stairs, I saw the pain, as you held the microphone, I saw the passion, and the first word you spoke ignited the fire.
I am writing this post to say a big thank you. I want you to know that I love you, and I am inspired by the role you are playing in making the world a better place for African women.
