Segun Odunmbaku: Fulfilling Promise Of Quality Governance And Sustainable Development In Ojodu LCDA

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon Segun Odunmbaku, was in the news across print, television, radio and social media all over the country recently for launching a free transportation intervention for residents in his jurisdiction by providing free buses as palliative measures to cushion the effects of the Fuel Subsidy Removal on commuters in the council area.

He was praised by many who came across the news and were impressed by the audacity and ingenuity of a Council Chairman to effectively make visible efforts to ease the conditions of the people and rolling out relief packages for thier welfare at a period Nigerians were expressing anxiety and agony as the effects of the subsidy removal began to affect the masses while yearning for measures by government at all levels for action to cushion the effects of the policy.

Segun Odunmbaku’s pragmatism and welfarism initiative that became a sensation didn’t come as a surprise to the people of Ojodu LCDA who have grown accustomed to the unprecedented developmental strides that they have been experiencing since the inception of his administration exactly two years ago when he assumed office as Chairman of the council bringing a new innovative approach to governance at the local government level which is fast becoming a benchmark for quality governance at the closest level of government to the people.

The youthful Havard trained Mayor of Ojodu LCDA had it the ground running with his H.E.Y.S Developmental Agenda (Health, Education, Youth and Women Development, Social and Infrastructural Development) when he assumed office with immediate implementation of reforms at the council targeted at improving the quality of governace that has witnessed upgrade of primary health centers, educational support for students, training and capacity building for youths, provision of vehicles and equipments for security formations and infrastructural renewal across Ojodu LCDA.

His partnership with private and non governmental entities strengthened by a “Breakfast Meeting” with such organizations at the first anniversary of his administration had birthed collaborations on Free Medical Missions, Provision of facilities by PEPSICO and WaterAid for sanitation in schools, markets and health centers, capacity building programmes for youths with KENNOL while many efforts are in place to establish a recycling hub, one megawatts power generation facility, recreational center and establishment of soilless cubic farming to boost food security and foster economic prosperity in the LCDA.

As part of activities to mark its “2 Years In Office Programme” and showcase the achievements towards realization of it’s H.E.Y.S Development Agenda. The Olusegun Odunmbaku administration has been holding series of events that were lined up to celebrate the milestone of it’s quality service to the people of Ojodu LCDA.

There was a subsidized foodstuff programme for residents to purchase food at reduced price of 1000Naira for every item, an SME Empowerments and Business Management Training for entrepreneurs while another batch of youths would be onboarded for vocational training with KENNOL, a Teacher’s Reward Scheme to encourage performance and a Widow’s Food Bank Initiative were programmes earmarked for celebrating the 2nd year anniversary of the Olusegun Odunmbaku administration.

He also held an exclusive media parley with media houses in which he elucidated on his achievements in office and about the plans of his administration  to continue fulfilling his pact of sustainable development to the people of Ojodu LCDA as promised during his campaign trail, there are also plans to launch an online platform that would promote creativity and inclusivity of the younger generation Z to cultivate and elevate them as young and emerging leaders.

Hon. Segun Odunmbaku relentlessly keeps delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ojodu LCDA while the testament of the residents on  his high performing administration and the far reaching impact of his initiatives are a pointer to the trailblazing achievements that has heralded his tenure since assumption and has continued to enjoy the support of the residents while  promising not to renege on his campaign points that aims to bring about sustainable and tangible socioeconomic development to Ojodu LCDA.
