The prosecution of a man, Stephen Monday, who allegedly defiled his lover’s 4-year old daughter by penetrating her private part, has began before the High Court in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man, Monday, was arraigned before Justice Abiola Soladoye of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, having been found culpable for the alleged offence by the Lagos State  Government.
During the arraignment, the Director of Public Prosecution, Babajide Martins, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on February 14, 2021 at about 5am, at No. 5, Ayeloja Street, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Martins, told the Court that the defendant allegedly had carnal knowledge of the four-year old girl by inserting his penis into her private part thereby committing the alleged offence, which contravened Section 137 of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Martins, then asked the Court to give a date for trial since he pleaded not guilty to enable the prosecution prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
Consequently, Justice Soladoye granted his request and ordered that the defendant to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till 9th November, 2023, for commencement of trial
