A 34-year old man, Charles Ejiofor, has been arrested and charged for allegedly smashing the head of the wife, Onyinye, on the wall and she died in the process in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th June, 2023, at Alowolodu Street, off Mr. Biggs Bus Stop, Alapere area of Lagos, where they reside.
The man, Ejimofor, has been charged before Ebute Metta Magistrate for murder.
According to the Police, Ejiofor had a disagreement with the wife over an undisclosed matter and in the process, he grabbed her, hit her with first blows, hit her head on the wall and she slumped.
She was rushed to the hospital but she was already dead and the doctor only certified her dead while the corpse was deposited at mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the Police at Alapere Division and he was arrested and then transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.
After thorough investigation, the Police found him culpable for willful murder under Section 222 of the Criminal Law of the State, which attracts life imprisonment or several years of imprisonment.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Abdul Sanusi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the case.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Ajayi, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
