The suspects, aged 18 and 24 years, respectively, were arrested at their residence in Agua Marina Estate, Apo, FCT, Abuja.

According to the Police, “The arrest is a testament to the culmination of exhaustive investigative efforts and reflects our staunch commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in combating cybercrime”.

“Furthermore, our dedicated team of investigators meticulously gathered evidence and conducted comprehensive inquiries, resulting in the apprehension of these suspects. Such activities not only exploit individuals but also pose a significant threat to our nation’s cybersecurity. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have identified potential victims associated with the suspects and are actively working to mitigate both immediate and remote cyber threats.”

The Inspector General of Police while commending the Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center, DCP Uche Ifeanyi Henry for the significant successes, underscored the critical importance of vigilance and caution when engaging in online interactions.

He urged the global cyber community to verify the authenticity of online acquaintances, exercise discretion in financial engagements, and promptly report any suspicious online activity to the authorities.

The public are hereby reminded of the importance of reporting such activities, suspicions, or any other cybercrime or cyber-related crimes through the Center’s dedicated e-reporting portal at incb.npf.gov.ng or via email at policecyberunit@npf.cybersecurity.gov.ng.

The Police boss reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to safeguarding our digital environment, and will appreciate the continued support and cooperation of the public in our efforts to combat cybercrime.
