Fake Naval Officer Arrested For Snatching Motorcycle

A 43-year old man, Muhammad Ibrahim who posed as a Nigerian Naval officers to commit crimes in Lagos have been arrested by the police.
The suspect who also uses Naval name as Ibrahim Dantala was apprehended at Idimu area where he attempted to snatch a motorcycle from its owner, Adamu Alasa.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court with stealing and impersonation and remanded in prison.
According to police, Ibrahim accosted Alasa while he was riding his motorcycle with registration, DED 902 QE. He pretended to have seized the motorcycle and attempted to escape when Alasa summoned courage and held him and raised alarm.
The alarm attracted the passerby and a patrol team who took both Alasa and Ibrahim to the station.
During interrogation, the police discovered that Ibrahim was not a Naval officers as he claimed and has been using name and identity card bearing Naval emblem to steal from innocent people.
He was subsequently detained and charged to court with stealing and impersonation under the Criminal code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 26 October 2016.
