My One Cent To Critics Of Igwe Credo
ULOKA CHIBUIKE
I have come to realize that many of the individuals we perceive as intelligent are actually hypocrites disguising their true nature.
You all seem to demand Igwe Credo’s head on a silver platter because he had the courage to expose Kcee Limpopo’s fraud and exploitation of his young artist and protege.
Many of those criticizing and clamoring for Igwe Credo’s sack as Ojazzy manager or whatever, haven’t bothered to delve into the background and essence of the issue. Instead, they have stereotyped Credo and already condemned him.
Without Igwe Credo, there would be no Ojazzy to make sounds with Kcee Limpopo. All of this unfolded because Igwe Credo was involved. Rather than showing him appreciation and giving him the credit he deserves, you are all calling for his head to be served hot and spicy in a pepper soup bowl simply because he spoke his truth, acted differently, and refused to let a thief (Kcee) escape.
Recent events have only confirmed that many Nigerians might not possess intelligence after all, but are merely vocal and follow trends just to gain attention.
These discussions wouldn’t have even started if it weren’t for Credo. While he might have his imperfections like any other human being, the demand for his head to be sacrificed is infuriating.
Igwe Credo Mbem was already a well-known traditional mbem artist, doing well for himself when he discovered young Ojazzy, a relatively unknown flutist. He pledged to nurture Ojazzy’s talent, and the young boy began performing alongside Credo at various events, all at no ill conditions, even when no one believed in the young flutist. Igwe Credo supported and sheltered Ojazzy, turning him into a sensation on the flute. Surprisingly, no one ever discusses this aspect. Credo could have exploited or disregarded Ojazzy Igbonile, but he took a keen interest in him and promoted him to his contacts and audience. It was through this promotion that Junior Pope, a friend of Igwe Credo, talked about Credo to Kcee Limpopo when he brought his idea of oja and afro combination. Junior Pope used this opportunity to introduce Igwe Credo, his friend, and his young flutist, whom he believed would excel in the project.
Junior Pope then facilitated the connection between Kcee Limpopo and Igwe Credo, who, in turn, brought Ojazzy into the equation. If Credo were greedy and had no genuine intentions for Ojazzy, he could have sidelined him and chosen a more established flutist. Instead, he brought Ojazzy to Kcee Limpopo and provided him with the necessary support to execute the Oja-piano and Oja-ginger project.
Today, because Kcee Limpopo failed to uphold his end of the agreement and exploited both Igwe Credo and Ojazzy, rather than holding Kcee Limpopo accountable for his f00lishness and fraud, you are all crucifying the primary victim, Igwe Credo. Without his protest, Ojazzy might have believed that Igwe Credo received his share of the money from Kcee Limpopo and kept mute, such would severe the trust between both.
It is utterly absurd for every single person, including those who have never extended a helping hand and have no intentions of doing so, to call for Igwe Credo’s head. This audacity of idiocy is beyond comprehension.
Amidst the misunderstanding with Kcee Limpopo, it was Igwe Credo who took it upon himself to provide Ojazzy with crucial publicity to keep him afloat and prevent him from getting into a state of depression. While Credo may not be the most skilled manager, just as many of us have deficiencies in various areas, rather than demanding that he step down for a so-called professional, he should be acknowledged for his contributions, and Kcee Limpopo should reward him or offer him a contract with his record label. Failing to do so would make Kcee Limpopo a callous th’ief.
