Police operatives have arrested an 18-year old, Obisesan Sultan and charged him before the Court in Lagos State for allegedly sneaking into their neighbour’s apartment and engaging their 4-year old daughter in sex before he was caught by her mother.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Sab Ojewale Street, Soluyi, Gbagada area of Lagos, where the victim’s parents reside with the suspect, Sultan.
According to the Police, the suspect targeted the victim after the mother had gone out for an undisclosed purpose and sneaked into the children’s room while the victim was sleeping and defiled her.
He was said to have forcefully removed her pants and penetrated her in the process.
However, while he was still in the act,  the victim’s mother caught him and handed him over to the Police at Ifako Gbagada Division. From there, he was transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the case.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an option of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds the defendant culpable and recommends his trial before the Court for the alleged dastardly act.
