Posted on November 13, 2023

‘Eat To Wealth’, a book by Dr Jesupelumi Adenihun is set to launch in Lagos on 18 November.

The book is a call to action for Nigerians to improve their eating habits and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

A recent study by researchers from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy has shown that between 2005 and 2018, higher-educated adults in Sub-Saharan Africa, tend to consume more sugar-sweetened beverages than their counterparts in the Middle East/North Africa.

Over the same period on a national scale, the highest consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in the world occurred in Nigeria, Mexico, Ethiopia, and the United States of America.

The study underscored the critical role of diet and beverage consumption in health outcomes, emphasizing that unhealthy dietary habits contribute to conditions such as obesity, malnutrition, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Eat to Wealth serves as a guide to using nutrition as the key to physical well-being and disease prevention.

The book also helps equip individuals with knowledge to attain and achieve their goals of building healthy eating habits.

Speaking on the launch of the book, Adenihun stated that the book was her way of helping the average Nigerian prevent diseases and achieve a healthy lifestyle by educating, inspiring, and guiding them to make informed dietary choices.

“My mission is to help more individuals live a healthy life with the food choices you make. In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to fall into the rhythm of unhealthy snacking, sugary food and fatty food consumption. But with Eat to Wealth, I hope to guide and hold people’s hand as we embark on a journey towards total well-being, one nourishing meal at a time.”

Dr Jesupelumi Adenihun is a thought leader in corporate wellness and preventive healthcare.

She is also the co-founder of CHEKKER, a health technology company providing swift and high-quality diagnostic services across three Nigerian states.

Over the years, she has contributed actively to the health policy commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and currently has affiliations with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria and the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria.

The book ‘Eat to Wealth’ is set to revolutionize the Nigerian eating culture, and help Nigerians lead a sustainably healthier life.
