Imo Guber 2027: Ononuju Lauds Gov. Uzodimma On integrity
The former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and long-time ally of the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Hon. Barrister Kingsley Ononuju (Ekwedashike), has congratulated him on his re-election describing Uzodimma as a consummate team player, honourable leader, who is visionary and results-oriented with impeccable integrity.
Ononuju stated this during a chat with select media executives in his private office in Owerri, Thursday.
According to him, no other candidate could have meaningfully challenged Governor Uzodimma because none had anything to show that could match the spectacular achievements of Governor Uzodimma and that was why they resorted to dishing out false accusations and ignoble propaganda.
On the issue of Imo Charter of Equity and the zoning of the position of governor to Owerri Zone, Ononuju praised Governor Uzodimma for being a man of his word citing his declaration on the day he received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that he remains committed to handling over power to Owerri Zone.
Ononuju, however lambasted some selfish leaders in the zone, who are so greedy and often allow their selfishness and egotism to becloud their sense of judgement, pointing out that there is no sole or absolute leadership in MBAIKE – nay, Owerri Zone.
He expressed anger and dismay over the fact that leadership meetings were convened in Owerri Zone without any invitation extended to him despite the fact that he is one of the key leaders and apostles of Imo Charter of Equity together with Barrister Uche Onyeagocha and Chief TOE Ekechi.
His words: “Collegial leadership is what works in Mbaitoli – Ikeduru (MBAIKE) Federal Constituency including Owerri Zone, where the supreme leadership then chooses who to coordinate with. There is no sole leadership in MBAIKE and Owerri Zone. Governance is about structure. Division of labour ensures good governance as one man alone cannot do it that is why there are three arms of government. Good governance must come with XYZ. I am “Ezealake” and irrepressible.
They should stop creating battle where there is no battle. Ignore Ekwedashike at your peril,” he warned.
Speaking further, Ononuju threatened to form a parallel leadership group in Owerri Zone with like-minded and productive individuals, if the so-called selfish and self-imposed leaders continue with what he called ‘exclusionary posturing’ adding that Okigwe Zone also has what it takes to produce the next governor of Imo State in 2028.
