Man, 53, In Police Net For Defiling Underaged Mentally Challenged Girl

A 53-year old man, Usman Tela Ahmadu, has landed in trouble in Adamawa State for allegedly engaging an underaged mentally challenged girl in sex. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Samunaka, Yola North Local Govement Area of the State.
Police operatives from the Adamawa State Command have arrested the suspect, Ahmadu and detained in custody for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed  that the suspect was in custody undergoing interrogation over the incident.
Nguroje stated that the suspect hails from Maiduguri in Borno State but resides in the area as an internally displaced person (IDP) receiving  gifts and undue support/ sympathy from the locals.
During interrogation, the suspect  admitted to have engaged the girl in sex romp and further revealed that he sexually assaulted the mentally challenged minor four times and had been abusing her since 2021 before he was eventually arrested.
SP Nguroje added that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, while expressing worries, called on parents and guardians to live up to expectation in providing necessary protection to their wards in order to prevent them from accessing the criminally minded person.
The Police image maker stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Police stated that the prosecution will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
