Man, 27, Faces Trial For Penetrating Neighbour’s Girl, 8, With Finger

The trial of a 27-year old man, Owolabi Olabisi, who allegedly penetrated his neighbour’s 8-year old girl’s private part with finger, has commenced in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the defendant, Olabisi, was arraigned before Justice Abiola Soladoye of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, where he was charged for sexual assault under the Criminal law of the State.
The defendant was charged before the Court by the Lagos State Government through its counsel, Abimbola Abolade, who told the Court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on 18th January, 2023, about 7:20pm. on Ojuelegba Road, Surulere, Lagos.
The defendant allegedly lured the victim to his apartment and sexually assaulted her by penetration with his finger before he was caught and handed over to the Police for prosecution.
The prosecutor stated that the alleged offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, Olabisi pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Soladoye, ordered his remand in custody at a correctional centre pending the determination of his bail application and  subsequent commencement of trial.
The matter was adjourned till 20th February, 2024, for the commencement of the trial.
