The Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has ordered a 50-year old trader, Mr. Sunday Ezeh, who allegedly attacked his wife, Nwaneka Ezeh, with cutlass for not bearing a male child, to be remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the order was given by the Court after Mr. Ezeh reportedly brought a surety suspected to be a fake Pastor and it was discovered by the Court, which then ordered his remand in custody over his inability to meet the bail conditions.

The matter has been further adjourned till 6th March, 2024, for trial and he will be coming from the Kirikiri custody if he is unable to provide a reliable surety as demanded by the Court against the initial order that remanded him at Gender Section of the Command.

The father of three was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court for assault and threatening his wife, Nwaneka, with violence in order to chase her and their daughters away in order to enable him get married to a lady, Blessing, who had promised to bear him a male child.

The lady in question reportedly gave Mr. Sunday conditions that he must chase away his wife, Nwanneka and their three daughters from their home before she would come in and bear him the male child he had desired.

Thus, Mr. Sunday reportedly attacked and used a cutlass to chase away his wife and three daughters from their house at No. 48 Baba Ijesha Street, Moonlight Bus Stop, Igando area of Lagos, where they reside.

Mr. Sunday’s rather rash decision has now landed him in trouble. At the moment, he is struggling to meet the conditions of the bail granted him by the Court as sureties must show evidence of means of livelihood, identification and tax payment. And one of the sureties must be a blood relation that will be above 50 years and the second surety must be a community leader or religious leader that lives within the jurisdiction of the Court.
