Police Foil Robbery Attack At Petrol Station, Recover Stolen SUV

The police at Area M Command, Idimu led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Austine Akika, foiled a robbery attack at a petrol station and recovered a Toyota Rav4 SUV that the robbers used for the operation.

The incident happened at Mooru petrol station located at Idowu Egba Bus Stop along Igando/ Iyana Iba Expressway, Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that three armed robbers invaded the petrol station and attempted to rob the pump attendants before the police intervened.

The robbers then snatched the Toyota SUV from the owner and escaped.

However, the police at Area M Command, Idimu got the information and moved into action to arrest the robbers.

They gave the robbers a hot chase along the expressway and the robbers sensing the speed of pursuit by the police team hurriedly stopped at Obadore, parked by the road side, moved into the river line and escaped.

By the time the police got to where they parked the vehicle, the robbers had gone.

The police then recovered the vehicle and brought it to the Area M Command as exhibit.

It was learnt from the police sources that the robbers might have come from the riverine areas to rob, as they appeared to have known their way from where they parked the vehicle before escaping.

When our correspondent visited the Area M Command, Idimu, the vehicle was seen parked at the Command premises and the owner had been contacted to come forward to claim and recover it.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified efforts to arrest the suspects but the police sources declined to disclose their plans on how they will arrest the suspects.

The area Commander, ACP Austine Akika could not be reach for comment as he was said to have gone to the State Headquarters to brief the Commissioner of Police.

However, police sources confirmed the incident and said that the suspects will soon be arrested.

P.M.EXPRESS had reported that last week a team of policemen from Idimu Divison led by SP Solomon Fayomi had foiled three robbery operations in the area, recovered guns and three motorcycles that the robbers had used in the operations.
