A man, Kolawole Akinsanya, has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly hiring thugs to kill his neighbour, Lukmon Ajibola and his goat, which ate Akinsanya’s yam.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on Monday, 5th February, 2024, around 8pm at Ilepa in Ifo Local Government Area of the State, where they reside.
Police operatives from the Homicide Department of the State SCID have arrested Akinsanya and detained him for conspiracy and murder under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, trouble started when one of Ajibola’s goats wandered into Akinsanya’s compound and ate dried yams, which he spread in the compound. Akinsanya was said to have seen the baby goat eating his yam and beaten the goat to death.
The victim, Ajibola, who rears goats to support his motorcycle business, approached Akinsanya and questioned him for his action. This led to an argument and Akinsanya allegedly called some hoodlums, who attacked Ajibola and got him seriously injured.
The residents rushed to Ajibola’s rescue after they found him lying motionless and he was taken to Zion Hospital in Ilepe in the area, where he was later referred to the State Hospital in Otta and he eventually died there because of the injuries he sustained.
The matter was reported to the Police and the suspect, Akinsanya, was arrested and detained while the hoodlums fled the community and were said to be at large.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who also disclosed that the suspect, Akisanaya was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
She stated that the Police were making every effort to apprehend the fleeing suspects and stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment. But that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
