It was the end of the road for a couple, identified as Mr. Okoro, 45 and his partner, Patience, 42, after they were arrested for their alleged involvement in ‘one chance’ robbery operation in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from the Lagos State Command arrested Okoro  and Patience at about 6:00am on Saturday, 17th February, 2024, while posing as commercial bus drivers and abducting unsuspecting passengers to different locations to defraud them of their properties.
They were arrested based on reliable information that they had gotten from the public over their alleged activities in the State.
One of the victims was able to identify one of them, stating that they had taken N37,000 from her two weeks ago.
Some of the criminals usually operate in different locations across the State with their vehicles under the pretense of taking passengers to their destination and at the end steal from them.
The Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed their arrest by the Police over their conduct.
The Police stated that some suspected thieves were always parking around the Olososun Ojota area in the pretense of taking passengers to their destination but instead take them to an unknown destination and steal from them.
The image maker stated:
“The incident happened around 6 am, and one Patience, aged 42, and one Okoro, aged 45, were arrested based on the credible information received from the public. One of the victims was able to recognise them, and she said they stole about 37,000 from them”.
SP Hundeyin stated that the suspects will be arraigned in Court after the conclusion of the investigation by the Police for their alleged criminal activities in the State.
The Police seem to have intensified efforts to eliminate criminals across the State especially the ‘one chance’ robbers, over a period. Since the Commissioner of Police took over at the State Command, many of them have been arrested and charged before the Court then remanded in custody.
However,  it appears that it does not take much time for them to regain their freedom from prison custody and go back to their criminal activities in the State, which could be attributed to no evidence to prosecute them and the alleged offence committed is usually bailable offence as such the Court will have no option than to release them from custody.
