President Muhammadu Buhari has  nominated Justice Sidi Bage from Nasarawa State (North Central) and Justice Paul Adamu Jauro from Taraba State (North East) to fill the vacant seats at the Supreme Court.

A letter requesting confirmation of their appointments was sent by President Buhari to the Senate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki read the letter  at the resumed session of the Senate on Tuesday.

Buhari in the letter asked the Senate to give it the urgent attention it deserves.

Justice Jauro was born on June 26, 1954.

He became a Judge of the High Court in 1998 and was appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2008.

Also, Justice Bage, who was born on June 22, 1956, became a Federal High Court Judge in 1992 while he was appointed as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000.

The National Judicial Council (NJC) had earlier  recommended  the two Judges to President Muhammadu Buhari for approval as Justices of the Supreme Court.

Their nominations came amid a clampdown on allegedly corrupt judges in the High, Appeal and the Supreme Courts, by the State Security Service.

Of the 15 said to be under investigation, seven were arrested weekend.

They were granted bail on Monday on self-recognisance.
