Man, 40, Arrested For Poisoning Wife, 35, To Inherit Her Livestock

A 40-year old man, Habu Ibrahim, has been arrested over alleged failed plan to poison his 35-year old wife, Zakiya Uzairu, in order to inherit her livestock worth huge amount of money, which included goats, sheep and cows in Jigawa State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Danadama village, Sule Tankarkar LGA, where they reside.
This was disclosed by the State Police Commissioner, A T. Abdullahi, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect and indicated that he is undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct to kill his wife.
The Police boss revealed that the suspect was arrested by the State Command for allegedly lacing a drink and meat with poison, targeting his wife, Zakiya Uzairu, with the intention of inheriting her wealth.
He stated that upon receiving the report, detectives from the Sule Tankarkar Division acted swiftly, arrested the suspect at the scene and detained him for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
CP Abdullahi said the suspect was brought to the Divisional Police station in Sule Tankarkar for questioning and was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
During the interrogation, the suspect willingly confessed to the crime, confirming the accuracy of the information provided to the Police.
“He admitted intending to kill his wife to gain possession of her livestock, which included goats, sheep, and cows.
He said the wife narrowly escaped after she perceived the poison and presumed his plan,” the Police stated.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
