Exposing Obaseki’s Deceptive Projects And Transparency Gaps In Edo State

Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s recent proclamation of executing over 225 projects in Edo State is not only a testament to his penchant for self-aggrandizement but also a gross misrepresentation of the truth.
It is even ludicrous that the man would list the renovation of a classroom as a feat, after spending close to eight years in office. More pathetic is the governor’s failure to provide cost details for each project as this renders the entire exercise a charade, leaving Edo residents questioning the legitimacy of his claims.
It is also disconcerting to witness Mr. Obaseki’s attempt to rewrite history and take credit for projects initiated by previous administrations, such as the Ekikhalo Edosonmwan Avenue constructed during Chief Lucky Igbinedion’s tenure. This deliberate misattribution highlights the governor’s lack of self esteem and accountability and raises concerns about the authenticity of his purported achievements.
The absence of specific cost breakdowns for the proclaimed projects underscores a lack of transparency in Mr. Obaseki’s governance. Edo residents are left in the dark about the financial implications of these projects, raising questions about the prudent use of taxpayer funds. A serious minded governor which Mr Obaseki is not, should be committed to accountability and would readily provide detailed information to substantiate his claims : Mr. Obaseki’s refusal to do so raises suspicions.
Moreover, the governor’s eagerness to claim credit for projects executed by previous governments in Benin City exposes a self-centered approach to governance. Rather than focusing on tangible accomplishments during his tenure, Mr. Obaseki seems more interested in singing his own praise without providing substantive evidence of his contributions.
Mr Obaseki’s tenure has been a leadership disaster, lacking in transparency and accountability. His failure to present the pertinent information regarding project costs diminishes the credibility of his claims and reinforces the fact that his has geen a fraudulent regime.
Edo State deserves a better future with a governor that prioritizes truthfulness, transparency, and tangible results over empty rhetoric. That government is coming and very soon.
