2 Ladies Docked For Injuring Themselves During Public Brawl

Two ladies, Amaka Lucy Okolo, 26 and Blessing Victor, 30, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging in a public fight and inflicting injury on themselves with human bites.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 2nd March, 2024 at Eweje Street, Mafoluku area of Lagos, where they reside.
The ladies, Lucy and Blessing, were charged for breach of public peace and affray under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, the ladies had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to the exchange of words and later to a physical fight between them.
During the fight, they inflicted injuries on themselves with biting. As the fight raged on, Lucy used a kitchen knife to stab Blessing on her neck and gave her serious injury before she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police at Makinde Division and they were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct in the area.
After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, told the Court that the defendants were arrested and brought to the station while they were fighting and inflicted injury on themselves and were charged for the alleged offence, which contravened the provisions of the Criminal code.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each and one surety each in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
