A woman, identified as Nimotalahi Ishola Folashade, has committed suicide by jumping inside a river as she boarded a boat while going to Ogun State from Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 9th March, 2024, around 21:00 hours.
The woman, who was said to be an out-patient of Alimosho General Hospital, boarded the boat at Isuti jetty, Isuti Road, Igando, intending to travel to Totowu in Ogun State. But in course of the journey, she reportedly removed her life jacket before jumping into the river.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command through the Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that the Police has began investigation on the incident.
The Police also revealed that a bottle of the popular insecticide called Sniper was found in the deceased bag and did not state if it was meant for suicide or any other purposes.
SP Hundeyin stated that a report was made at Igando Divisional Police Station by an individual named Rasak, who stated that the deceased boarded the  boat at Isuti jetty, Isuti Road, Igando, intending to travel to Totowu in Ogun State.
“Suddenly, she removed her life jacket and jumped into the river, leaving behind a bag containing a bottle of Sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards, and some drugs.”
“Detectives from the Division visited the scene of the incident, and a search party has been contacted to recover the corpse.”
“The Police are currently conducting an investigation, and efforts are being made to contact the deceased woman’s family” SP Benjamin Hundeyin said.
What would have made the deceased to take her life was yet known because the Police report was not yet ready but some who heard what happened said it could be as a result of frustration due to ill health because of the drugs found in her bag or probably the economic hardship.
