Telecommunications: NCC and Swedish Government Explore Areas of Partnership
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) led by Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the regulator, leaves nothing to chance to ensure that the telecommunications sector of the Nigerian economy compares favourably with its counterparts across the world.
The CEO, in his wisdom, was able to secure partnerships and facilitate collaboration with countries around the world.
One of these nations is Sweden, a Scandinavian country in Europe.
On Monday Dr. Maida received a courtesy visit from the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Annika Hahn-Englund, at his office in Abuja. The Embassy in Abuja represents the Swedish government in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and ECOWAS.
During the visit, Dr. Maida and the Swedish Ambassador talked about areas of the ongoing partnership between the Commission and Sweden, in particular capacity and skills development.
Dr Maida took advantage of Ambassador Hahn-Englund’s visit to highlight the knowledge pillar of the strategic plan of the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, for which the sector has been strengthened through opportunities for the NCC staff. Sharing best practices from their Swedish colleagues.
However, H.E. Hahn-Englund reiterated the Swedish Embassy’s unwavering commitment to further developing existing relations, adding that both Nigeria and Sweden have much to gain in their diplomatic and economic relations.
