Three men, Uzaifa Rabiu, Aminu Ahmed, and Mohammed Bello, have been remanded in custody having been arrested and charged in Kano State for gang raping of 11 under aged boys by engaging them in anal sex for over five months.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jakara Quarters, Kano,  where the suspects reside.
The suspects were subsequently charged before the Kano Chief Magistrate Court.
The prosecutor, Amina Baba, told the Court that the defendants committed the offence between October 2023 and February 2024 at Jakara Quarters, Kano, by deceiving and luring the victims to their house and sodomising them.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Baba, opposed the bail application filed by the defence counsel and told the Court that the charge against the defendants were serious and urged the Court to dismiss the application. She said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 284 of the Penal Code.
The defence counsel, Mr. Dalhatu Usman, urged the Court to grant his clients bail pursuant to Sections 35 and 36(5) of the 1999 Nigeria Constitution as amended.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman, ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody in a correctional facility without granting them bail and adjourned the matter till 28th March, 2024, for a ruling on the bail application.
