Police operatives from the Adamawa State Command have arrested a 33-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Abubakar, for stabbing his 25-year old wife, Hajara Sa’adu, to death for seizing his phone during a squabble.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Sabon Gari-Futy in Girei Local Government area of the State, where they reside.

He was alleged to have subdued the deceased by stabbing her severally with a sharp knife on her back, thereby causing her severe injuries, leaving her in a pool of blood and she died in the process.

This was disclosed by the State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

He stated that the suspect brutally killed the deceased on 8th April, 2024, at about 4:30 am, after he accused her of taking away his phone, which led to little argument between them.

The image maker stated that the suspect was apprehended following the report made to Police by the father of the deceased and a preliminary investigation conducted, leading to the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime that is linked to him.

“The suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement and he regretted killing the mother of their only child.”

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has also expressed his disappointment over the unfortunate incident and assured that the Command will diligently prosecute the suspect under the Criminal Laws of the State after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
