Man, 44, Arrested For Parading Self As Lawyer On Social Media

A 44-year old man, Olufemi Ololade, has been arrested and charged before the  Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly parading himself as a lawyer on social media. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ololade was charged for impersonation under the Criminal law of the State and remanded over his alleged conduct.
The Prosecution Counsel, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told Court that Ololade between March 2022 and February 2024, was alleged to have wilfully used the title of a legal practitioner on social media sites.
”The defendant, within the jurisdiction of this Court, allegedly paraded himself to be a lawyer on Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp and pasted a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) sticker on his Honda vehicle with Registration No : JJJ 979 JD.”
”Ololade falsely represented himself as a legal practitioner by sending his pictures in legal attire to one Victoria Olabode wit intent to defraud her ” he said.
The prosecutor, Akinloye, said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 484 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000 and  Section 484 stipulated that if the defendant is found guilty, he is liable to three years imprisonment.
However, he leaded not guilty.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1million with two sureties in like sum and one of the sureties must be a civil servant on Grade Level 14, while the second sureties must be a blood relation and their addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 6th August, 2024, for trial.
