Woman Docked For Beating Up Her Landlord During Squabble

A 65-year old woman, Yetunde Olajuwon, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging and beating up her landlord, Emmanuel Marlley, by trying to choke him to death before he was rescued.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that she has been arrested and charged before the Badagry Chief Magistrate Court, for the alleged assault on the landlord.
The incident happened on 30th April, 2024, at about 4:30p.m, at No 1, Marlley Close Ibasa-Nla, Iyana-Era, Ijanikin, Lagos, where they reside.
She was charged for assault, malicious damage, and threat to life under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the Court that the defendant committed the offences by allegedly holding her landlord, Mr Marlley, in a chokehold manner to kill him.
“The defendant maliciously damaged the floor tiles, keys, water closet cover, floor to the entrance, sockets, electrical wires and change over box valued at N450,000. The defendant threatened to kill her landlord,” the prosecution said.
The offence contravened the provisions of Sections 172, 350 and 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. N. A. Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The Court also ordered that one of the sureties should be gainfully employed while the other should be a civil servant and their addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 6th June, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
