Teenager Docked Over Failed Attempt To Snatch N3m Vehicle On Highway

An 18-year old Sometochukwu Amoke has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attempting to snatch N3m worth Chevrolet Aveo car belonging to Kinrin Michael Babatunde.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 9th June, 2024, in the afternoon at Ajah area of Lagos, where the suspect, Amoke, accosted the owner of the car on the highway.
However, the plan failed as he was arrested by the Police who were on routine monitoring and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing.
In the charge, the Police alleged the suspect to have conspired with others at large to snatch the said car with registration number, KSF 442JB worth the said amount belonging to Babatunde.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 21st August, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
