How 3 Police Officers Were Battered For Impounding Motorcycles From Riders

Three Police Inspectors from Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Command had a nasty experience while trying to enforce traffic laws by impounding motorcycles from the riders as they were brutally attacked and injured in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the offiicers, Inspectors Olajunju Olawale, Momoh Lawal and Adaja Genga, suffered their fate by impounding the motorcycles as they were beaten mercilessly and sent to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The incident happened along Jakande Isheri Oshun Road, Ijegun area of Lagos, where the officers went to enforce the traffic laws.
Three of the operators including Alaka Waheed, 39, Olatunji Yusuf, 35 and Taoreed Ademola, 38, have been arrested and charged for conspiracy and assault over their alleged conduct.
According to the Police, they were arrested while they rode against traffic and they begged the officers to temper Justice with mercy but the victims insisted that they will enforce the law.
The riders, having realized that they might lose their motorcycles and get prosecuted if they are taken to the Police station, decided to attack the officers and escaped.
However, they were later arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for their alleged conduct.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable on the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while their addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 30th July, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
