Woman, 39, Docked For Biting Female Rival During Public Brawl

A 39-year old woman, Peace Obi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attacking and biting her female rival, Jessica Obasi and inflicting injury on her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Hospital Road, Omonile area of Abule Ado, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect was charged for conspiracy and occasional harm under the Criminal code.
According to the Police, the suspect and another now at large conspired and committed felony to wit assault occassioning harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State.
The alleged assault was reported to the Police at Trade Fair Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct and to provide the second suspect, which she declined.
Thus, she was charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
Part of the charges read: “That you, Peace Obi and one other at large on the date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District did assault one Jessica Obasi ‘f by punching her at the back and giving her a bite on her hand contrary to Section 173, criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Dr Simeon Uche, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, L.K.J. Layeni, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
