Sales Boy Captured On CCTV Camera Stealing N2.1m Perfumes Inside Shop

A 34-year old sales boy, Ebube Iheanacho, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he was captured on CCTV stealing assorted perfumes worth N2.1m inside the shop belonging to his former boss, Chinedu Emengini, at the Trade Fair Complex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the shop located at Ogun Plaza inside the Trade Fair Complex where the suspect, Iheanacho, was employed as a sales boy by the owner.
He has been arrested and charged for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, the owner of the shop, Mr Emengini, conducted an internal audit and discovered that some of the items were missing. He then revisited the CCTV footage and discovered that it was the suspect that stole two cartons of assorted perfumes worth the said amount.
Initially, when the owner confronted Iheanacho over the missing items, he denied knowledge not knowing that the complainant saw where he was captured on CCTV stealing the items.
He then played the CCTV footage for him to watch and the suspect saw himself stealing the items. He was then handed over to the Police at Trade Fair Division for prosecution over his alleged conduct.
He was consequently charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence after thorough interrogation.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, LKJ Layeni, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 7th August, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
