Woman Baths Neighbour’s 2 Daughters With Hot Water During Squabble

A 29-year old woman, Ebere Modrine Nwafor, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly pouring hot water on her neighbour’s two daughters during a squabble.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Omila Road, Onireke, Lagos State, where they reside.
The victims, Amarachi Okolie and Chisom Okolie, suffered severe burns on their body and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where they are receiving treatment due to the injuries they sustained during the attack.
The matter was reported to the Police at Onireke Division. She was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct on the victims.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable for wilfully committing the alleged offence and consequently charged her for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and burning the victims by pouring hot water on their body.
Part of the charges read:
COUNT 1: That you Ebere Modrine Nwafor ‘F’ on 16/06/2024 at about 2230hrs at No. 15. Omila Road, Onireke, Lagos State, in the Ojo magisterial district did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace and thereby committed an offer contrary and punishable under Section 168(d) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,”
COUNT 2: That you Ebere Modrine Nwafor ‘F’ on the same date, time and place the aforementioned magisterial district did burn one Amarachi Okolie ‘f’ and Chisom Okolie ‘f’ by pouring hot water all over their bodies, thereby did them harm and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 246(a) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty before the Court to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.M. Alade, granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
