Man, 37, Sent To Prison For Touching 10-year Old Girl’s Body In Public

A 37-year old man, Okon Effiong, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly touching a 10-year old girl’s body in public as her parents became angry and handed him over to the Police for indecent assault. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Effiong, has been charged for alleged indecent assault on the victim over his conduct.

 

The incident happened at Lola Holloway Street, Omole Phase 1, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the suspect allegedly touched the girl’s body, which angered her parents and the matter was reported to the  Ojodu Division of the State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

The Police did not disclose the part, which the suspect touched on the victim’s body. But after the interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi,, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 25th September, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town,, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
