Medical Sales Rep. Docked For Swindling Company Of Products Worth N7.1m

A 30-year old man, Eneowo Obinna Richard, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing medical company’s products worth N7.1m. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Clarion Medicals Limited located at 23 Afolabi Lesi Street, Ilupeju, Lagos State between January to December, 2023.

 

According to the Police, the suspect obtained goods from the company under the false pretence of supplying them to their customers and thereafter remit the money into the company’s account.

 

However, when the customers paid him money for the goods, he diverted and converted it to his own use as he escaped having disconnected every communication with the company.

 

The matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested him and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The Charges read :

What you ENEOWO OBINNA RICHARD “M” and others at large being a medical sales representative with Clarion Medicals Limited located at No. 23 Afolabi Lesi Street, Ilupeju, Lagos State, between January to December 2023 in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit obtaining goods under false pretence and stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:

That you ENEOWO OBINNA RICHARD “M” on the same date and place in he aforementioned Magisterial District did obtain various medical products from Clarion Medicals Limited valued Seven Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixteen thousand Naira Sixty Kobo, N7,150,416.60k) under the pretence of supplying them to the company’s customers and thereafter converted the money to your own use and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314(1b) of the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT III

That you ENEOWO OBINNA RICHARD “M” on the same date and place in he aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal the sum of Seven Million One Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixteen thousan Naira Sixty Kobo, (N7,150,416.60k) belonging to Clarion Medicals Limited and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287(7) of th criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
